Blog Post #2: Learning To Slow Down While Chasing A Dream

I started an online bookstore, and it has turned out to be the hardest endeavor I have ever taken on. I never imagined how much time I would spend adding SEO, writing meta titles, and learning the tiny details that make a bookstore visible in the endless noise of the internet. Some days I spend three or four hours perfecting my site, and I do it all while being a stay‑at‑home mom. Most of my work happens late at night, long after the day has already taken everything out of me.

And honestly… it’s wearing on me.

This bookstore has been my dream for as long as I can remember. So how do you step back from something you’ve worked so hard for? How do you slow down without feeling like you’re giving up?

I finally sat myself down and made a plan. Not a business plan, but a survival plan. A way to take care of myself while juggling my daily responsibilities and this dream I’m trying to build in the quiet hours.

The first thing I realized was simple but important: SEO and meta titles will always be there. They aren’t going anywhere. I don’t need to conquer everything at once. I don’t need to add fifty books in a day. I don’t need to burn myself out before my bookstore even has a chance to grow.

So I slowed down. I started adding books in small batches, ten at a time, making sure each one is polished and ready across every platform. It takes about thirty days for SEO changes to settle anyway, so why rush? Why sprint toward burnout when I could walk toward joy?

My dream of having a successful bookstore will come. I believe that. But I want to arrive there whole, not exhausted. I want to enjoy the process instead of drowning in it. I want to build something beautiful without breaking myself in the process.

This chapter is about pacing. About remembering that dreams don’t disappear when you slow down. Sometimes they grow better that way.
