** spoiler alert ** Warning this review does contain spoilers!
This book started out with the main character having to look her best all the time, didn't commit to relationships, and worked in advertising with a multi-million-dollar apartment in an extremely desirable area. Then all of a sudden, she takes a week with friends because one getting married and somehow falls in love with the area due to a cottage being familiar in her "dream". After she embraced everything without question, even though it sounds like her personality doesn't compute with how she is acting in the beginning vs now she leaves her whole entire life behind on a whim after buying the cottage and decides to renovate it because it automatically feels like "home". She didn't even question herself in a past life regarding anything and just went with the flow. There were multiple time skips and it got to the point were almost everything was a plot twist. Then to add the icing on the cake she falls in love with someone because she truly believes he is her soulmate even though she states multiple times she has commitment issues, and her relationships don't last longer than six months. The main character is an extremely independent individual and yet still gets roped up in an abusive and controlling relationship until she realizes that he is going to kill her.
I honestly don't know how to feel about this book - I really wanted to love the book there was just too many changes in the plots and the main character completely changes herself for a man only because she believes he is her soulmate. I may read the other 2 just to draw conclusion to the story, I am hopeful they are better than the first. The story just felt unorganized, and everything was thrown at me all at once just to fit it into 300 pages. I would have enjoyed it more if the story took its time developing and developing the characters along with it.
Thank you so much to the author for sending me a copy of the book.

I honestly didn't know what to expect while reading this book due to it being my first time reading a novel written by Holly Black. I was blown away - the details, the characters, the plots, the twists and turns. Once I started reading this book I couldn't put it down. I can't wait to finish the series to see how the story unfolds!
RATING: 5 STARS
** spoiler alert ** I was not expecting every single chapter to be a different pov (each chapter was a pov of one of the 5). I didn't know how to feel at first, but I absolutely love this book you get parts of someone's past or someone's feelings with every pov change it immerses you in the feelings and emotions of each character. Even though it gave tid bits about each character the end was still a mystery - the plot and the twists were surreal. The book kept me on my toes making it impossible for me to stop reading until the end. I can't wait for the second book to be released!

Dune takes place on a desert planet where spice is the main source of trade, the more spice you have the more you control. The apex predator of this desert world is the giant sand worms that go to sources of vibrations, staying under the sand until they get closer to their destination. The worms go after the mining crews who are getting spice, spice is not only worshiped but an almost guaranteed death sentence.
Paul embarks on a journey when his parents and him are sent to Arrakis. He has visions of a women with beautiful blue eyes but has no idea who she is. After his world is turned upside down and he ends up on the run to stay alive he meets the women, the one he has been dreaming of. He decides to defend Arrakis against all who will destroy "his people" and a war ensues. Lines have been drawn and the outcome is unknown, but one thing is for certain this is his destiny.
Dune is an original science fiction novel, that creates a world unlike any before. It sets the stage for the endless possibilities of science fiction writing. I always compare books to a work of art, authors create a world, characters, plots, and villains with a pen, typewriter, keyboard, etc. and they make imagination come to life with the words they write on each page. Frank Herbert created a beautiful work of art that makes the readers imagination soar. Dune is a one-of-a-kind book, and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it.
